Downloads on the incubator site

I don't think we can have downloads to external distributions on the apache site. We may want to remove them and have a link go to the "old" github project stating that older distributions can be obtained there.

This is the reply email we got from Craig:

This message acknowledges receipt of the following document, which has been
filed in the Apache Software Foundation records:

CCLA from LinkedIn for Jun Rao, Neha Narkhede, Jay Kreps, Jakob Homan,
Joel Koshy, Alan Cabrera

Craig L Russell
Secretary, Apache Software Foundation

supports scala and seems to work fine from the command line.

Did it get checked in by Craig?

http://incubator.apache.org/guides/mentor.html#initial-ip-clearance

Running RAT will catch a lot of stuff. I wonder if it can be run under sbt.

Alan

Alan,

LinkedIn has filed CCLA with Apache. What do we need to do to get code base
checked?

Any developer that want's to participate in releases should put their public key in the KEYS file:

http://www.apache.org/dev/release-signing.html#keys-policy

We cannot make a release until the CCLA/SGA has been received, the code base scrubbed/checked, and we have followed the proper release prep.

We cannot use the apache mirrors for releasing old non-ASF releases of Kafka.

We can have a link to another site where they can go download old copies.

We cannot have a direct link to the actual artifacts. We cannot have an ASF website deliver non-ASF release artifacts.

Okay, I have converted over the site, it seems to take a long time for the
changes to appear but they should show up in the next hour. Couple things
- Anyone know how to use the apache release download thingy for releases?
- Alan, seriously we can't have a link on our site where people can download
the code? That seems completely outrageous...what would be the motivation
for this?
- I have added the apache disclaimer and logo so i think we are brand
compliant.

Any other thoughts on making the site better or more useful while i am
fiddling with it?

I think we also need to include the official disclaimer somewhere:
