[jira] [Created] (TS-3354) No feedback of failure due to
unavailable syslog of traffic_cop
Karl Richter created TS-3354:
--------------------------------
Summary: No feedback of failure due to unavailable syslog of traffic_cop
Key: TS-3354
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TS-3354
Project: Traffic Server
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: Logging
Reporter: Karl Richter
While I figured out some permission errors, I noticed that `traffic_cop` doesn't provide any feedback about its failure due to unavailable syslog, even when invoked with `--stdout --debug`. It returns with `1`. Starting the (r)syslog service fixes the issue, so I guess, it'd be nice to provide that info in form of a console message.
experienced with 4.2.2 on Debian wheezy.
