log4j reader

Hi,

We are currently implementing logging in our projects with log4j.

Due to the size of our projects, we need to filter the generated log file
according to the Category and Priority.

My question is that whether log4j has the ability to read in a String and
with the given PatternLayout, returns back the Category, Priority, the
message itself and other valid options seperately so that I could do my own
filtering?
