[commit] Restoration of canvas clear and root/doc dereference on load

Hi:

I have finally (I think!) managed to commit
my changes to restore a canvas clear and dereference
of document and root node when a new document is
loaded.

Affected files are JSVGCanvas and ViewerFrame only.

Is anyone else having so much trouble completing a
commit?   

(multiple disconnects, and *very* slow (>10 min))
