Reducing overhead for remote service calls
The concept of using "delta CAS" to reduce UIMA service overhead has been
raised in previous discussions on uima-dev. In anticipation of beginning
work on this, an initial description of the expected design has been put on

Of course :)

When you will start implementing before the bugfix release... you have
to create a branch, right?

At this point I do expect only a few localized changes. Most of the effort
will be in XMI serialization code. Small changes in the CAS implementation
to record changes to preexisting FS. Hopefully implementation would start,
but unlikely to finish, before the bug release.

Right - this will be a longer term piece of work, certainly not
something for the upcoming bugfix.

Sounds interesting, but I have some questions about the development of this.
I think there will be a lot of changes in the core framework. How long
do you think will it take to implement the suggestion?
Do you want to implement this in the main stream or do you plan to
create a branch?
When do you plan to start with the implementation?
I hope that this will have no impact to the planed bugfix release.
