Geronimo & Karaf & OpenEJB
Hi,
As a Apache Camel, ServiceMix and Karaf committer, I have different
questions that I would like to discuss with Geronimo team.
1) Karaf
- Geronimo platform is based and uses Apache Karaf Project (versin 1.x). Is
it planned to migrate to a more recent release of Karaf 2.x by example ?
- Can we deploy Geronimo project (that should be a collection of bundles +
config files) in Apache ServiceMix or Karaf ? If this is the case, do you
have a document describing the procedure - features to be deployed + config
files required ?
2) OpenEJB
Can you tell me if Geronimo uses OpenEJB project or its own EJB container ?
Can we deploy on Karaf Geronimo EJB container only ?

Seriously, just look at your Java 7 implementation and come up with a
list of packages. I don't think there's much more to do. Given it
hasn't been released yet, I'm not sure a lot of people are using it (I
don't have it installed myself) ... but it's better to be prepared.

Many thanks for the information. Using karaf 2.2.1 will be a great
news. Do you know why "features" commands are not deployed on the
existing platform based on Karaf 1.x ? I hope that you will use it in
next release of geronimo as it will allow us to deploy Apache Camel
project where there is a camel-ejb component for doing integration
with EJB components and not only using Spring.
Remark : there is an issue during build process of geronimo -->
[org.apache.geronimo.system.plugin.PluginInstallerGBean] : Unable to
install plugin
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot read source file at
/Users/charlesmoulliard/.m2/repository/org/apache/aries/application/org.apache.aries.application.utils/0.2.1/org.apache.aries.application.utils-0.2.1.jar
at org.apache.geronimo.kernel.repository.AbstractRepository.copyToRepository(AbstractRepository.java:79)
at org.apache.geronimo.system.plugin.LocalOpenResult.install(LocalOpenResult.java:51)
BTW, as Aries 0.3 has been released, that could be great to use it
instead of 0.2.1 which has not been released for utils !!!

Geronimo trunk is currently using Karaf 2.2.1.

No. At least not yet... David Jencks has done some work in this area, but we aren't there, yet...

Geronimo's EJB container is OpenEJB.
