[jira] [Commented] (ARROW-7950) [Python] When initializing pandas
API shim, inform user if their installed pandas version is too old

Joris Van den Bossche commented on ARROW-7950:
----------------------------------------------
That sounds good, then we can also start with explicitly defining an actual oldest supported version of pandas, instead of the current vague situation.
I can look into this next week:
- Do some tests with older pandas versions to check which one are actually passing our tests (0.20.3 clearly not anymore, from the mailing list, and I also don't think we should do effort to fix support for this old version)
- Add a version check to the pandas API shim
- Ensure we actually run tests with this defined oldest supported version of pandas
