            if (acroForm == null)

            docCatalog.setAcroForm(acroForm);
            acroForm.importFDF(xfdfDocument);

xfdfDocument is the XFDF file, docCatalog is from an ordinary PDF document. Running this code does nothing, i.e. the acroform has no fields.
