POI : Reading Excel With Filter Enbale : Gives Null pointer err

Hi All, 
I  am using  POI api' for reading  excel file its reading fine as far as the
excel file are of version 97 and above , but if  I save a file with
autofileter the workbook object is coming as null, As result the user are
getting nullp pointer exception.
 
Can anyone guide me what should be done to avoid this problem
