[jira] [Commented] (WOOKIE-253) New sample widget - Walkthrough

Thanks Steve I've tested it and it works fine!

So happy to add to scratchpad.

Just one more thing... the code is all marked Copyright 2011 University of Oxford; as its all ASL 2.0 licensed that isn't a problem in terms of including it, just wondering if the intention was to donate the code?

(Otherwise I think we have to add a line to NOTICE and LICENSE)

> As recently discussed on the mailing list [1] I have built a new widget for to be considered for inclusion as an demo. I've tidied it up ready for distribution and think it is now ready for testing etc. The name Walkthrough is a quick fix and better suggestions are sought.
> The widget was developed by myself as OpenDirective for the University of Oxford. It was commission by the UK IPO http://ipo.gov.uk. The example Data set was created by Rowan Wilson of OSS Watch.
> I've attached it as a zip and look forward to comments.

If code is contributed with no copyright headers and no request for an
entry in NOTICE is made then we don't need to add one. In this case
Oxford wanted to ensure their donation was noticed, so we said "you'll
get a NOTICE entry" ;-)

Just an aside - what is the process whereby code becomes part of the project itself and no longer requires an entry in NOTICE?

Steve is in transit for a few days (on and off) so let me lighten his
load and reply for him (we work together).

Code is never "donated" to the ASF, it is only ever licensed so the
existence of any copyright headers is still relevant and we cannot
remove them. However, we can ask the contributor to remove them and
instead put an entry in the notice file.

It's better to remove them as it keeps the code clean, but only a
representative of the contributing org can do so (unless we have an
SLA on file).

In this case I happen to be able to remove these headers (as I am a
part of the same contract that produced this and am named on Oxfords
CCLA).

In other words, I'll do the commit for you now.
