XPath API: XBoolean vs. XBooleanStatic

Hi,

I vaguely remember getting an answer to this question some time ago, but
couldn't find anything in the archives. So here goes:

What's the difference between the XBoolean and XBooleanStatic classes?
When will an expression evaluate to one, and when to the other?
Are there any more subtle differences to watch out for?
