Re: Time to Retire SAMOA from Incubation?

Hi,

Has anything been decided here? If so please include it in your report (which is due today).

Thanks,
Justin

Hi Justin,

I think it is because there were just a lot of pending requests to be
merged for a while now, that were already discussed, but we hadn't
proceeded.

However, with the addition of a new member in the developers team, this
finally moved forward and they are being put in track.

I think soon we will have a release to be tested / discussed by the team
and the rest of the interested parties.

Cheers,

Nicolas

Thanks Justin!

It took more than 2 months to create the account of Corey Sterling, as
it seems that some things are still done manually, and there was a
mistake with his email address. Finally, we could solve it out, and
Corey started working on that. We were meeting personally, as we are
in the same building, just to make the release happen as soon as
possible. We will use the list to discuss things, from now on.

Many thanks,

Albert

Great! One small question, why is it that I see no discussion on the list about this?

Thanks,
Justin

Hi Justin,

Thanks for your email. Yes, we are working on the release, and we are
going to have the release candidate very soon, in one or two days.

Hi,

It's report time again. Has any progress been made on the release or a decision on retirement?

Thanks,
Justin

Hi,

We are working to have a new release in September with Corey Sterling,
the new committer. We can see if after this new release, there is an
increase of interest from the community. If not then we can decide to
retire it from the incubator.

We included this text in the report

"To restart engagement, Corey Sterling has been elected as commiter in
late August. With his help, we are preparing a new release of Apache
SAMOA in early September. Corey Sterling has experience on open source
software, as an example, he did the last release of MOA, an open
source software non-distributed for data streams very related to
SAMOA."

Cheers

Albert
