[jira] Created: (ARCHETYPE-197) Rename or alias supplied archetypes in catalog

Rename or alias supplied archetypes in catalog
----------------------------------------------

                 Key: ARCHETYPE-197
                 URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/ARCHETYPE-197
             Project: Maven Archetype
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Archetypes
            Reporter: Gwyn Evans
            Priority: Minor

It seems to me that there's a need to be able to rename certain archetypes in the catalog, as while their artifacts are consistent within their own projects, they're not as well suited as others to a cross-project catalog. I'd guess that something like an optional <alias> attribute might be the best way, leaving the majority changed but being able to tweak archetype names such as 'data-app' or 'quickstart'.
