Paulo Motta commented on CASSANDRA-11029:
-----------------------------------------
You may need to increase your O/S default resource limits according to the [recommended settings|https://docs.datastax.com/en/cassandra/2.1/cassandra/install/installRecommendSettings.html]. See [this document|https://docs.datastax.com/en/cassandra/2.1/cassandra/troubleshooting/trblshootTooManyFiles_r.html] for more information. Please reopen issue if that's not the case.

> I have a cassandra node running in AWS for test purpose.
> When I was going to test it today, just found it was down. And I have checked log file, the error is :
> ERROR 19:40:36 JVM state determined to be unstable. Exiting forcefully due to:
> java.io.FileNotFoundException: /var/lib/cassandra/data/talkatonegroup/invite_external_members-4b19b590664911e5906a018f9ca3e4f8/la-1-big-CompressionInfo.db (Too many open files)
> And even when I try to restart, it also shows the same error message.
> Any ideas?
