Do I need to add authentication on slave 5051 port for security?

My master and slaves will communicate via public ip. in consideration of
security, I can add authentication on mesos master 's 5051 port. I know
that mesos slave also listen on 5051. Is that safe without authentication
on that? If false, how to add authentication on that? thanks.
