one selects a series of elements with their hierarchy expanded
copy or cut
paste them elsewhere
observe that the tree structure is lost
If on the other hand
collapse the hierarchy
copy / cut
paste and the tree structure is maintained

This is working as designed - if you select multiple elements, then they are
added as individual elements.
