Ariel, your are absolutely right and I will work on a solution.
This is a defect in a new feature introduced for AOO 4.1.0. It should be fixed
for AOO 4.1.0. I assume it will be be a "one-line-fix".

A fix is available on trunk.
It is just a check on the corresponding view options which shows/hides
the annotations/comments when figuring out, if an Overlay object to
highlight the annotated text range has to be created and shown - very
very low risk from my point of view.
Please grant this issue show-stopper-status.
