It would be nice if MirrorMaker allows custom publisher to be plugged in.  The use case we have is to use a customized REST publisher with Kafka REST Proxy (http://docs.confluent.io/2.0.0/kafka-rest/docs/index.html) to mirror data cross data center via public internet.
