   The configuration should really just offer either async/sync, not both. The original vision was to offer both and let the user choose (with two different "Run Query" and "Run Query Async" buttons). 
   
   I had designed it that way, but then people said rightfully that the two buttons were unintuitive and we decided  to have a precedence rule that if you check `Async` then it's *only* asynchronous.
   
   We should probably clarify that in the wording on the form and deprecate one of the checkboxes.
