CSS Skin Spec. + Respository = new OSCOM Project ?

Hey OSCOM folks,

the last days I listened to discussions like here
http://www.bergie.iki.fi/blog/2004/2004-06-21-002.html
where people were mainly talking about css skin repositories.

Of course such skinning is not enough. I see also a need for specifying
XHTML container markup to get a specification/skeleton for skin
developers to put the css/flesh on. I.e. css garden also uses quite nice
container structures and there are a lot more resources.

However, this skinning stuff meets my interests and I wonder if it makes
sense do create an "light weight" OSCOM project for the CSS Skin spec.
and repository.

People from at best different CMS communities who are interested could
discuss and specify the xhtml skeleton(s) as well as providing reference
impl. skins. I think of modularizing the skeletons i.e. skeletons for
news areas, simple web pages, polls etc. But, hey, think big and start
small.....

I think one of the first steps could be setting up a website about this
with references to further or related work as well as sending out
invitations to join the project at least at mailinglist level.

Count on me taking part on that project.

WDYT?

I just started a css-style skin in forrest. See the actual snapshot
online http://www.apache.org/~thorsten/prueba/. I used as well a
container approach.

Have a look at the source code, I used some comments to identify the
divs. Hope that makes it easy for everyone to understand the skin.
Thanks to the divs it is very straight forward.

Regarding the skeleton I thought about a mechanism in forrest to alter
the actual skeleton. I mean one can use an internal skeleton and
override the outcome like e.g. <header name="standardHeader"/> in a
skinconf.xml.

My idea is to take the above mentioned skin and apply it to the default
pub. At best a normal forrest pub can be used in lenya than all
enhancement of that skin could be used in lenyas-default pub.
