Interested in Mahout for GSoC 2011

Hi All,
My name is Kojo Gambrah-Sampaney, a final year student (BSc.
Information Technology) of Ghana Telecom University College, in Accra,
Ghana. Artificial Intelligence is my number one technical interest
area and I see a chance to work on Mahout for GSoC as a unique
opportunity to seriously develop this interest. For GSoC 2010, I
worked on Grameen Foundation's Mifos (Microfinance Open Source),
re-implementing the database upgrade mechanism and improving
acceptance test framework.

I have been studying a number of resources to help me get up to speed
with development in Mahout particularly when it comes to scalability.
My previous experience with machine learning algorithms is with
implementing person correlation coefficient to recommend jobs that fit
the personality of an individual given their interests and values.
Andrew Ng's lectures have been particularly helpful as well. So has
Mahout in Action.

I have found MAHOUT-333
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MAHOUT-333> (Implement a
visualization tool to help a user visualize the output of clustering
and other algorithms) a good fit for my current skill set and an
achievable project given 3 months. The Jira issue is quite clear on
what needs to get done but in case you have further thoughts or more
guidance, I sure would like to hear it.

Regards,
Kojo Gambrah-Sampaney
