[PATCH] additional FAQ: "I'm new to version control ..."
* www/project_faq.html
Add entry for SCM newbies. Right now, punt by pointing them to
Brad Appleton's SCM-links page.

Several of the links are also stale. I need to update it. I'm in the process of making a major update that I hope to complete by the end of the year.
But I agree that the aforementioned links page may be a bit too much at once for a newbie. I think that http://acme.bradapp.net/ would be a better. It starts off with an intro to the project, a link to a webpage of SCM definitions, another link to a page of recommended readings, as well as a link to the links page above, plus links to various papers (including branching papers)
Still - its a temporary solution at best. the CM yellow pages at CMtoday.com, or cmcrossroads.com, or ucmcentral.com is a more "hardcore" CM site (more than just version control).

The closest thinig would be the "Streamed Lines" paper. Which is a bit of a primer (and then some) on branching.

True (or CVS for that matter :)
If this is just a temporary solution for now, until there is more svn tutorial info available, then I'd recommend pointing to the main acme page for the time being (if you point to anything of mine that is :). Actually, the stuff in the upcoming book is the most appropriate, but if I make it fully available on the net my publisher will be unhappy with me :)

Hmm. I'm not so sure about that. Right at the top, it notes that there are
262 links. An SCM newbie is going to become lost. Fast.
Maybe there is a primer in there which could be used instead?
And hey... he doesn't even mention Subversion on that page! (gasp)
