Toncat help needed. Can't get the thing to run !!
Here is the output of running startup.sh for
tomcat....
and tomcat is not up and running.
Using CLASSPATH:
/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1/bin/bootstrap.jar:/usr/local/jdk1.3.1_01/lib/tools.jar
Using CATALINA_BASE: /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1
Using CATALINA_HOME: /usr/local/jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1
Using JAVA_HOME: /usr/local/jdk1.3.1_01

I am running Linux on a pentium machine.

You need to provide more information than this. What kind of system
are you trying to run Tomcat on? If it's Linux, take a look at
RELEASE-NOTES-4.0.1.txt, which has a couple of Linux-specific
paragraphs about stack size problems.
