CID Font Support

Does anyone know what is the step by step procedure to install a CID font
in FOP v.0.18.  I have followed the new documentation of the new release
and I still get an unknown font error.
It always uses the default font instead.

I would like feedback from anyone who has done it successfully in
particular with Japanese fonts.
