[users@httpd] installing apache2 on xp pro

I am trying to install apache2 with 2.0.46-win32-x86 on windows xp pro and no matter what i do its not properly instaling.
before it finishes installation it is giveing me to error messages
in 2 different console windows.
first console is "<OS 10048> only one usage of each socket address <portocol/network address/port> is normally
permitted. : make_sock: could not bind to address 167.254.26.129:80
no listening sockets available, shutting down
unable to open logs"
and second console is "the system cannot find the file specified. : no installed service named "Apache2".
I disabled the firewall that runs on xp, and closed all the servers
and changed the Listen 80 directive to Listen myip:80 hoping to
fix it still didnot go.
Can somebody please can direct me how to proceed on this.
is there a way one can put directives in the config file that prints
in a console about where this error message is coming from.
since no log file is generated as you can read from the message and
I checked it out and the error log does not exist and
 and access files is empty.
I appreciate the effort.
thanks

I just now did exactly that, no error messages nothing.
Seems to be running just fine.
Windows XP Pro SP1 and current updates..
Apache 2.0.46-win32-x86 msi autoinstall
Celeron 800 MHz, 396 Megs Ram, 80 Gigs, ADSL.
Not a single hitch, well, still have to go in and reconfigure http.conf
Question, were your XP Pro updates all completed...?

Make sure you shutdown IIS if installed, disable integrated firewall in the
XP system, Remove\stop any McAfee AV of firewall installed on your machine.
And than do from the apache\bin folder:
Apache -k install
Net start apache2
