It turned out that providing support for Struts 1.2.7 was a rather simple task: only an updated set of tlds.
Because these tlds are not backwards compatible, now two separate artifacts are delivered for the Struts Bridge:
  - portals-bridges-struts-1.2.4-${bridge-version}.jar
  - portals-bridges-struts-1.2.7-${bridge-version}.jar

I tested the new Struts 1.2.7 bridge with the demo Struts Portlet Applications in Jetspeed-2 (JPetstore and the mailreader).
Once the new artifacts are available online, I'll update these to Struts 1.2.7.
