Not copying the images which have references in my CSS file

Hi all,

  iam using StaticHtmlExporter for exporting the published content.I have my image references in the css file,and images in the 
publication-id\resources\images.After publishing these imges are not copied into the destination folder.
But if i tried to use the image references in my page2xhtml.xsl,after publishing it is copying the images into the published folder.

So is there  any problem if i give references in css?

Please help me in this.

If you put the images in the directory

    resources/shared/images/

they will be available in all areas (authoring, live, ...).
