[jira] [Created] (HBASE-16269) HBase JMX names violate spec

Patrick Dignan created HBASE-16269:
--------------------------------------

Summary: HBase JMX names violate spec
                 Key: HBASE-16269
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-16269
             Project: HBase
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: monitoring
    Affects Versions: 1.2.2
            Reporter: Patrick Dignan
            Priority: Minor

It appears as though several JMX attribute names violate the spec by not matching the grammar for Java identifiers. In practice, this results in some JMX tools not being able to process those values.

Specific examples of this that I have noticed are the replication metrics, which contain periods in the name, such as ageOfLastShippedOp (e.g. source.peera.ageOfLastShippedOp)
