Crowdsourcing video at ApacheCon

For the last few years at ApacheCon, we have lacked a video sponsor -
that is, we've been unable to capture video of the various talks,
because nobody stepped up to pay for it.

(If you or your company would like to sponsor this, please pick up the
phone and call me, and ignore the rest of this message.)

This year I'll be bringing my video camera and tripod, and will be
recording all of the sessions that I personally attend. These will go
straight up on YouTube, tagged 'apache', 'apachecon', 'apacheconNA', and
'apacheconNA17', so that they are easy to search for with various filters.

If you have a decent video camera, and a tripod, please bring them, and
do the same. We don't need a lot of editing skill - just having them on
YouTube will be a huge win over NOT having them, even if they are not
high production value.

Thanks.

Hi Rich,

Well I’ll try to whip up something to record the FlexJS Summit … hopefully I’ll find something usable.

I looked at their setup this year, with a thought towards exactly that.
It looked like it would require that we take over the projection and AV
operation in order to do that. While I'm not opposed to that, I don't
think it's something we could pull off by May 15th.

However, if you wanted to take that on and run with it, I wouldn't stand
in your way. It's way over my head.

Hi Rich!

not sure if there's enough time for this ApacheCON but I've always
wanted to see if
the awesome video setup that FOSDEM folks have built could be
leveraged for us as
well.

The problem is -- I don't know anybody on the FOSDEM video team personally, but
even anyone on this list does -- it could be a good idea to see if we
can borrow some
of their expertise and software/hardware (the later will probably have
to be rebuilt
from scratch but may be we can spend some even $$$ on it).

Thanks,
Roman.
