[jira] [Comment Edited] (FREEMARKER-74) Constructors freemarker.template.Template

Daniel Dekany edited comment on FREEMARKER-74 at 9/26/17 9:59 AM:
------------------------------------------------------------------

The problem with {{String name}}, if anything, used to be that people don't expect that hey can specify a path (the subdirectory) there as well. But "description" doesn't sound good to me. Sounds like as if it's some longer text. Anyway, whatever the ideal name would be, it's unlikely that we change it after 14 years, because that's how lot of material refers to it (i.e., then name of the template).

> # add java doc to all Constructors
> # change 'String name' to 'String templateDescription'
> # provide a Constructor where the 'templateSourceString' can be passed in directly
> ad 3) I have a use case where I have already have the template source at hand and all the file io is handled elsewhere - so I may even get along without cfg (insofar as it deals with file io)
