The patch itself is fine, but the existing setting name isn't very good imo.

the setting is snapshot... true/false? 

to me that would mean create snapshots or not.

not parallel, serial.

given that we are changing the sense of the parameter, i think it would make sense to change the name so that folks aren't confused by the flip. (and to make it more clear)
