[jira] Created: (GERONIMO-4117) JAMES plugin

JAMES plugin
------------

                 Key: GERONIMO-4117
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GERONIMO-4117
             Project: Geronimo
          Issue Type: New Feature
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: Plugins
    Affects Versions: 2.2
            Reporter: David Jencks
            Assignee: David Jencks
             Fix For: 2.2

JAMES now has a Spring integration that is at least a little more comprehensible to me than the avalon system. This makes it fairly easy to run JAMES in geronimo, although many improvements are possible.

Initial plugin requires building JAMES with maven and applying JAMES-841 and JAMES-842 patches.

One obvious improvement would be using our datasources rather than the ones configured by james.

Another might be using a direct connection to apacheds running in geronimo for dns: this is a much larger change.

It worked once... lets try again when james uses the osgi blueprint service or someone expresses an interest.
