Improper handling of elements in external entities
Summary: Improper handling of elements in external entities
Product: Xerces-C++
Version: 2.4.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: Other
Component: DOM
AssignedTo: xerces-c-dev@xml.apache.org
ReportedBy: jrb@slac.stanford.edu
Depending on the setting of the 'create entity reference' flag, elements in
external entities either
* [false]appear twice (one address when looked up by tagname, another when
looked up by ID).
* [true] are read-only
I have seen this behavior for both 2.4 and the brand-new 2.5 on Linux RH9 with
compiler gcc 3.2, but I suspect the bug (if it is one, and not a configuration
error on my part) is not specific to OS or compiler.
I am attaching 5 files for this report: a test program which demonstrates the
behavior, input for it (3 files: one for dtd, one for initial input, one for
external entity), and the output.
