how to contribute on coding ?

hii every one i am new this open source world i wish to contribute
something on coding , but i am confused where and how to start with
pls help on this ...

Make/find a new issue one one of the issue trackers and submit a patch file.

I think that is the general idea.

This mailing list is a discussion forum for many different projects:

The first thing would be to browse the web sites of the various
projects and select something of interest to you. [If you have
a question about a specific project, you should prepend the
subject line of your message with the name of the project,
between square brackets (e.g. "[Math]" for the "Commons Math"
project).]

Then you'd probably want to download the source code and get
acquainted with the coding style(s). Eventually, you can have
a look at the issues posted on the bug tracking system.
