SIP problems / documentation

hi there everyone,

i'm thrying out sip support in om 1.9.1 via this:

http://incubator.apache.org/openmeetings/red5sip-integration.html

and this:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OPENMEETINGS/OpenMeetings+Asterisk+Integration

It's not clear to me what red5sip component is good for? Is it needed?
There already seems to be an SIP-Applet
if you enable sip in OM, however just a blank bar up top. In OM 1.9.1 does
SIP support also video? If so how?

Is there any documentation about the expected SIP behaviour to be found?
Would be really cool if someone could
explain what functionality sip.enable = 1 enables in OM 1.9.1 vanilla, what
SIPApplet does and what red5sip is needed for.

I feel quite lost :)

kind regards,
pete

Hi Alexei,

ok - got it. Then it's just inconsistent with the changelog of version 1.7,
or the entry was a mishap. Never mind.
Anyhow, thanks for all the replies everyone.

regards,
Pete

Hello Pete,
IMHO I can summarize sip documentation for 1.9.1 in the following sentence:

SIP does not work in 1.9.1

This comes from the fact that Timur commits which fixed SIP have
happened on Mar 27, 2012. OpenMeetings 1.9.1 was released on Tueasday
13.12.2011.

Besides i find this in http://code.google.com/p/openmeetings/wiki/ChangeLog:
Major changes in Version 1.7 (released Wednesday 15.06.2011)
- VoIP-Integration. Together with our Finish partner and the Open Source
Department of Kvarken region we have done a VoIP integration by using an
applet for the audio part. For further information see VoIPAndSIP

How do i get to see this further information?

Pete

Re: SIP problems / documentation

Posted by "seba.wagner@gmail.com" <se...@gmail.com>.
Red5Sip component simulates participants in a conference room that
represent SIP users.
It transcodes from RTMP (Flash) to RTP (SIP).
It does only transcode Audio currently.
Red5SIP simulates conference users and connects to OpenMeetings just like
any other conference user.

The SIP Applet has no connection to the red5SIP integration.
It probably will be deleted in the next version of OpenMeetings.

Re: SIP problems / documentation

Posted by "seba.wagner@gmail.com" <se...@gmail.com>.
Pete,

the simple answer is:
OpenMeetings smaller version 2.0 => No SIP integration possible.

OpenMeetings 1.9.1 contains some components that are SIP related, a SIP
Applet that loads in the background for example. However those components
are not documentated and rely on having specific server side infrastructure.
So if you want to use Asterisk with version 1.9.1 you have no chance.

Thanks!
Sebastian

Re: SIP problems / documentation

Posted by Pete Oakloan <pe...@googlemail.com>.
So sip in 1.9.1 is broken? Or just not documented?

Still i feel my questions are still valid disregarding the version number.
Do u care to quickly elaborate which component does what in order to
establish SIP communication?

Still confused about OM - SIP interaction, independent of version number.

Pete

Ok cool. Is there any sip documentation for the sip features in 1.9.1 then
or are we supposed to guess?
I am slightly confused how this answers any of my questions.
