French translation

Hello everybody;

I read in the release notes of the 1.1.0 version that help was seeked 
for translation in other languages. I could participate for a french 
translation, but I would like to know what is to be done. Is it just a 
text file to change, some source code, a specific ressource file,... ?

I could probably just try and find it in the code, but since I am not a 
C developper (my programming language is C++), I might miss something.

Well, you did the right thing (announce your intentions here). To
learn more about translating Subversion, you can read the TRANSLATING
and HACKING files in the root of the Subversion source tree.

In short: the messages to be translated are collected into one file
where you can easily translate them.

The project can help you with your translation by hosting it in the
repository and supplying a mailing list. If you do want to use either
(or both) of these, we encourage you to form a 'group' (minimum of 2)
so that continuity is a bit more secured.
