[jira] [Resolved] (INFRA-8806) svn.geo.apache.org returns different hosts and mostly wrong one

Tony Stevenson resolved INFRA-8806.

    Resolution: Fixed

No,

This happens from time to time - as not all ISP ranges are correctly defined as in country. This is mostly because some of their smaller netblocks move around.

There is nothing we can do about this.

Note our DNS service as a whole is currently under review anyway.

Sorry.

> I'm using svn.apache.org from the UK.
> Most of the time, svn.apache.org resolves to 140.211.11.105 (US), but it sometimes resolves to 160.45.251.2 (EU). (Just tried dig several times)
> I would expect it to be more consistent, and also to resolve to the EU IP address in preference to the US address.
> Is there something amiss with the geo detection?
