layering access control

hi. has anyone layered any kind of access control on top of xindice?

ideally, what i'm wondering if some is using something like XPath to specify the acl subject, e.g.,

	acl entry: user=mrose permissions=all subject=//path//allowed

as always, i'd rather use something that's already been invented than invent it myself.
