[jira] Updated: (HADOOP-1066) http://lucene.apache.org/hadoop/
front page is not user-friendly
Jeff Hammerbacher updated HADOOP-1066:
--------------------------------------
Attachment: svndiff.txt
I updated the Forrest files to match the html that has been submitted. Well, mostly match.
The problem is that i wasn't able to replicate the one-click left nav design from the html in Forrest--I was only able to get drop-down menus. One option would be to replicate the left nav in tabs in Forrest, as the tabs are href-able.
Let me know what people think or if there is a better way to communicate these changes.

> One of our tech writers has been looking at the state of Hadoop documentation, and suggests reworking the Hadoop front page to be more than just a release page (as it seems to be now).
> Especially in comparison with other other apache project pages, ours is uninviting to users unfamiliar with the premise of the project. She's suggesting updating the page to include more meta-information about the site, in addition to most of the links and news items currently on the page.
