Problem in Lenya 1.2.4

Hi all,
      I am facing a problem in Lenya 1.2.4 unix binary distribution. I have
posted this problem on user forum a number of times but not able to get
approtiate solution. I hope some one here may know whats going wrong with
me. The problem is that after installing the Lenya 1.2.4 on Fedora core 2
using tomcat 5,Lenya welcome page can be opened easily. Default publication
is also accessible through
'lenya-levi' account. But problem started when I tried to create a new
documents. When I click on File->new doc, I got following error

file:/.........../lenya/lenya/pubs/default/content/authoring/test/index_en.xml
(No such file or directory)

On my file system lenya did create the folder with name 'test' and an xml
file 'index_en.xml' of zero bytes inside the folder. Similar type of
error occurs when I wanted to create new user account or change user
passwords from admin tab.

I hope you understand the problem and will be able to help me to sort out
this. If you want to ask me something in more detail, it will be my
pleasure to tell you. One thing more I have checked the same version of
lenya on linux using Jetty. It works fine over there. but my concerns
is in tomcat. On linux I have used lenya with tomcat 4 and jdk 1.4 but same
prob arose again.

hmm, ok let me try this way, but even this is the case how lenya works with
jetty, i mean when i tried jetty with lenya then every thing was ok, no
exception was generated with the same previliges that i am using now.

then if it's not too much trouble, try to install lenya so that all
filesystems it touches are local. if it works then, you are having an
nfs issue... possible problems are uid/fid mapping issues or secondary
groups: i've seen 0 byte files when i access a file in a directory to
which i have write access via an additional (i.e. not my default)
group. nfs semantics can be subtly different than local fs, even more
sor when you are using acls....

Josias Thöny, this path is ok as behemoth is user home directory.
and for Jörn, my file system is nfs.

is this directory mounted over nfs? if so, that may be the problem. i've
seen similar things (new files with 0 bytes and an I/O error) in nfs setups.

Hi Jay,

> file:/home/behemoth/lenya/lenya/pubs/default/content/authoring/test/index_en.xml

This path looks a little suspicious to me.
Normally with a tomcat installation i would expect something like
[TOMCAT_HOME]/webapps/lenya/lenya/pubs/....

Can you please post
- the path of the directory where you installed tomcat
- the values of the following properties in your local.build.properties
file of lenya:
  * web.app.server
  * tomcat.home.dir
  * tomcat.webapps.dir

Did you install according to:
http://lenya.apache.org/docs/1_2_x/installation/source_version.html#Install+with+Tomcat ?

And for Lenya 1.2.4, JDK 1.4 is recommended.

Josias
