[jira] [Commented] (FLINK-11231) Unified the definition of Java
DataStream and Scala DataStream interface for set parallelism
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FLINK-11231?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16732829#comment-16732829 ]
Aljoscha Krettek commented on FLINK-11231:
------------------------------------------
The Scala API and Java API work slightly differently. For Java, specific operations are represented by a {{SingleOutputStreamOperator}}, which is a subclass of {{DataStream}}. For Scala, everything is a {{DataStream}}. For Java it's like this because you technically can only set a parallelism on an actual operation. Both have a method {{setParallelism()}}.
If we wanted to unify the interfaces, we would have to unify how {{DataStream}} behaves, changing methods is not enough.
