The code that the AsterixDB podling brings into the incubator consists of 2 "products" (AsterixDB and Hyracks) that are developed by the same community. Hyracks is a data-parallel runtime platform that is the foundation for AsterixDB and AsterixDB clearly is the biggest "customer" for Hyracks (and there really is no AsterixDB without Hyracks).
However, there are also other projects that are based on Hyracks (e.g. Apache VXQuery and Pregelix http://pregelix.ics.uci.edu) and we had separate git repositories and release cycles for AsterixDB and Hyracks so far.
Could we get a second git repository (incubator-hyracks) to be able to maintain this development model?
