[drlvm][unit] New regression? org.apache.harmony.auth.tests.javax.security.auth.kerberos.serialization.KrbDelegationPermissionCollectionTest
Folks,
Has anyone seen the following problem in the whole test run? I cannot
reproduce the problem for standalone test. (SuSE 9)

Heh, JIRA issues are quite good for making "everybody aware of" them,
in the first place :)

Hmm, this wiki page is a pilot at most - these results are important
enough to track their history and such, right place for them is Melody
or harmonytest.org.

Regularly filing a number bugs that everybody is aware of looks like
unnecessary work to me on the first glance. Okay, if reporters want to
file them explicitly, let it be. Anyway, there should be issues filed
to have a place for patches. Okay, I was too revolutionary today.
Although, having "repeated runs status" table, say, on wiki is a very
good thing. Are reporters ready to support the page? :)

Yes, we certainly should track such issues explicitly - otherwise
there is no big point in those "iterative runs" and some problems will
have very little chance to be fixed. Besides, JIRA issues would help
to accumulate info related to a particular problem - backtraces,
best-reproducer tests, etc.

I think it does. We have such issues already filed and fixed, e.g.
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HARMONY-1669,
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HARMONY-1974,
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HARMONY-2193.
A reporter has to submitt as mush information as possible about environment
and other conditions. As a rule such bugs are reproducible and could be
investigated and fixed.
Stepan,
What prevents us from fixing a following JIRA issue which is assigned
to you: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HARMONY-1751 classlib
test
org.apache.harmony.prefs.tests.java.util.prefs.PreferencesTest.testSystemNodeForPackage
()
fails? I agree that the test fails due to configuration issue. Taking
into account that this configuration is default for Windows 2003
server, does it make sense to get test passed in this environment?
All
There was a nice discussion about
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HARMONY-1977 [classlib][nio] Unit
test org.apache.harmony.nio.tests.java.nio.channels.SocketChannelTest
fails on Windows 2003 server. Is anyone fixing this issue?
Thanks!

Will try to do it today/tomorrow - just need time to merge results of my
investigations with suggested patches.

Alexei,
thank you for investigating DRLVM+HUT in the long run and a
comprehensive statistics on the wiki!! This is a very useful
section which sets a number of high-priority tasks for DRLVM.
One minor comment: let's call it "iterative runs" or "HUT intermittent
failures" or-whatever-not-reliability. Because the term "reliability"
may mislead (especially when used with "stability"). Oleg pointed me
on that recently.
> All,
> Does it make sense to file JIRA issues about intermittent bugs which

I think, no. Otherwise there will be a lot of issues entitled "[drlvm]
blablablaTest fails intermittently, and here is your stack
trace". They will appear, go away, rise from the ashes, go, come, etc.
A comprehensive "iterative runs status" page updated regularly (with a
script?) sounds more attractive. Ideal page would be like yours on wiki
with supplemented info:
* log
* stack traces if possible
* env description (OS, num of CPUs)
* FAIL rate // of course
The question is: what is the best tool for the list?
(0) wiki
(1) harmonytest.org
(2) JIRA
(3) other?
Sounds like a poll.

All,
Thank you for your attention! I have posted more long run statistics

I have three of questions regarding this statistics.
All,
Does it make sense to file JIRA issues about intermittent bugs which
happen from time to time?

Nope sorry -- all tests are passing for me on WinXP/IBM VME.
