Réf. : SOAP vs XML Protocol...

I can't be very helpful, but I could say that SOAP is a protocol used to
invoke services on remote machine, and this protocol need the standard XML
to exchange dataflow !!
XML is a "way" to deploy others protocols !!
I hope it will help you
Regards

Can someone explain to me, how the XML Protocol will be different from
SOAP.
And once XML Protocol becomes the de-facto standard, what will happen to
the
Web-services/applications written using SOAP.

Thanks in advance.
-Ashutosh.

Go to this list's archive (http://marc.theaimsgroup.com) and do a search.
I've posted messages on how to get ApacheSOAP -> MSSOAP interop before.

Dario,

if you mean calling a MS SOAP object from Apache SOAP 2.1 - then it works
the same as calling an Apache object.

What exactly do you want to know?

RE: Ref. : SOAP vs XML Protocol...

Posted by Anne Thomas Manes <at...@sun.com>.
Ashutosh is referring to the W3C standardization effort. The first draft of
XML Protocol (XMLP) is pretty much identical to SOAP 1.1. The XMLP group has
produced a list of requirements, though, that will force a few changes in
the final Recommendation.

Once W3C produces an official XMLP Recommendation, we can assume that lots
of folks will build XMLP implementations, and developers will start to use
XMLP. We'll probably experience some SOAP/XMLP interoperability issues, but
existing SOAP applications will still work.

I think of XMLP as a new major release of technology. We experienced a
similar situation when we progressed from CORBA 1 to CORBA 2.
