Closing the issue due to the following reasons:
 * [maven-shaded-log4j-transformer|https://github.com/edwgiz/maven-shaded-log4j-transformer] simply works
 * Log4j 3 wouldn't suffer from this problem
 * I don't have time

It is proven to be working and useful – we use it in the {{log4j-perf}} module. In a nutshell, it makes the Log4j 2 plugin system work when multi JARs get combined via shading. In succeeding discussions, we decided to introduce this with the following goals:
>  * a new {{logging-log4j2-maven-shade-plugin-extensions}} repo
>  * {{Log4j2PluginCacheFileTransformer}} [contributed by the original author|https://github.com/apache/logging-log4j-tools/pull/2]
>  * a decent Maven-generated site hosted in {{logging-log4j-site}}
