encoding question
Hi,
I'm using the Jetspeed in Japanese environment.
I have 2 question about encoding.
- Velocity's encoding
Is the encoding info of WEB-INF/conf/velocity.properties used?
Japanese characters was not displayed correctly when I provided
template.encoding=EUC-JP. Moreover I tried input.encoding=EUC-JP
and output.encoding=EUC-JP, but it does not work. In
WEB-INF/conf/TurbineResources.properties, if I provided
services.VelocityService.input.encoding=EUC-JP, I could get
Japanese characters in Jetspeed (but HelloVelocity doesnot work...).
- XML encoding
Can Jetspeed read XML files except the default locale?
In my environment, tomcat runs with EUC-JP locale.
Therefore Jetspeed can read XML files with EUC-JP only.
Since it could not understand UTF-8 files, Japanese characters
were not displayed correctly.
I checked CastorPsmlManagerService.java and found that
java.io.FileReader is used. According to javadocs,
"The constructors of this class assume that the default character
encoding and the default byte-buffer size are appropriate."
I think that FileReader's encoding is the cause.
Is this correct?
Best regards,
shinsuke

Modifying the home page in 1.4b1 using JSP
Posted by Garret Olson <go...@cariboulake.com>.
I have been trying to modify the home page of the JetSpeed instance.
Using Tomcat 4.0.3
I have modified the TurbineResources.properties to use jsp:
services.TemplateService.default.extension=jsp
Now I have also modified the .jsp pages in:
<jetspeed home>\WEB-INF\templates\jsp\layouts\html\en
<jetspeed home>\WEB-INF\templates\jsp\navigations\html\en
I have restarted Tomcat many a time and the changes do not take place.
Even though I'm supposedly using the .jsp templates, when I make changes to
the .vm files
<jetspeed home>\\WEB-INF\templates\vm\layouts\html
The changes are made.
Does anyone know how to modify the .jsp templates and get their changes to
stick?
Thanks
Garret
