We have reverse proxy impleneted for external users in front of our oracle
applications. Everything works fine except download / save PDF from The web
server.
After downloading or opening PDF it throws an error.
"There was an error in opening the document.The file is damaged and could not
be repaired"

This has been resolved. Reverse proxy does some validation about the content-
length. Content-length in the header and actual data was different in size.
Hence the PDF was not getting downloaded fully.
We have fixed Content-Length to match actual data and that has resolved the
issue.

We are using APache web server as reverse proxy server. If we do not use
reverse proxy I am able to download the file

Can you please supply a URL for some PDF that shows the error, and the same PDF
served by something that works (e.g. as a static file)?
