[DISCUSS] Pronouns

I've updated my entry in the data file of contributors [1] (from which
the table of committers and PMC members is generated on the site [2])
adding my pronouns. I don't think that we should compel or expect
people to provide their pronouns. But I want to provide a place for
people to do so, if they wish.

I hope we can all agree that our gender identity is at least as
important a piece of information as our employer. :)

I plan to update the table of committers and PMC members so that
people's pronouns appear next to their name, if specified.

Julian

We should suggest that they add themselves to
https://github.com/apache/calcite/blob/master/site/_data/contributors.yml.
In that file, the instructions should note that the pronouns field is
available if they wish to specify.

+1

For new committers/PMCs, we could possibly add a sentence in the invitation
email asking about their preferences and if they want to share them.

There are cases when people prefer specific posessive pronouns. For
instance: ze/hir vs ze/zir in http://pronoun.is/

Just as an escape hatch, I try using names instead of pronouns.

+1 Thanks Julian! I'll add that in many cases, I see the possessive
pronoun (e.g. his) also included but I don't know enough about the
reasons for this to feel strongly either way. I've added my pronouns
as well.
