[Bug 123936] New: Add "Might not work with MAC" to release notes
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123936
Bug ID: 123936
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Add "Might not work with MAC" to release notes
Product: Infrastructure
Version: current
Hardware: All
URL: http://www.openoffice.org/development/releases/4.0.1.h
tml#AOO4.0.1ReleaseNotes-KnownIssues
OS: Mac OSX, all
Status: CONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P3
Component: Downloads
Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Reporter: rainerbielefeld_ooo_qa@bielefeldundbuss.de
CC: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Due to several comments in and "Bug 123681 - UNRESPONSIVE WARNING WINDOW,
PROGRAM CAN NOT EXPORT TO RESCUE DATA, ONLY FORCE QUIT WILL CLOSE " and new
"Bug 119006 - Restore windows problem on Mac OS X" there is some evidence that
AOO does not work at all for MAC. That should be mentioned in release notes
(and may be on download page).
So please add one of above mentioned bugs to "Known Issues"!.

Andrea;
I have added the text to the 4.0.1 release notes on the cwiki. Before this can
be closed the html copy of the release notes at
http://www.openoffice.org/development/releases/4.0.1.html should also be
changed. My html skills are virtually non-existent so I feel leary about making
those changes and possibly screwing something up.

Rainer: you can add it to
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.0.1+Release+Notes#AOO4.0.1ReleaseNotes-KnownIssues
(in addition to the current pointer to 4.0 Known Issues) like Keith just did
for 4.1:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.1+Release+Notes
(you should have editing right on cwiki).
I don't remember reports of the bug with 4.0.0, only with 4.0.1. This is why I
would prefer to have it in the 4.0.1 Release Notes (unless there are reports of
it happening with 4.0.0 too).

I had the problem once on my new computer. Same workaround as for Bug 119006
fixed the problem. The solution has also worked for many people on the forum
and the user mailing list.
The release notes for 3.4.1 had the workaround.
I had provided the following in the Bug 119006 comments:
Option-click the Go menu
Choose Library from the menu to open the folder in the Finder.
Click on the folder Saved Application State
Delete the file org.openoffice.script.savedState
