[jira] [Created] (HIVE-13024) schematool does not log anywhere

Prasanth Jayachandran created HIVE-13024:
--------------------------------------------

             Summary: schematool does not log anywhere
                 Key: HIVE-13024
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-13024
             Project: Hive
          Issue Type: Bug
            Reporter: Prasanth Jayachandran

When testing the new RC for 2.0.0 release, I tried using the schematool to create the initial schema. While doing so encountered the following error
{code}
./bin/schematool -initSchema -dbType mysql
ERROR StatusLogger No log4j2 configuration file found. Using default configuration: logging only errors to the console.

Metastore Connection Driver :	 com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
Metastore connection User:	 hive
org.apache.hadoop.hive.metastore.HiveMetaException: Failed to get schema version.
*** schemaTool failed ***
{code}

I could not find the reason for this error as the log messages are not logged to the log file. Logging seems to be not initialized properly for schematool.
